Quite possibly one of the most delicious things ever, I once thought I could only have this amazing dessert at my favorite restaurant, Roy’s. Turns out making chocolate lava cake is not nearly as intimidating as you might think, it’s actually quite easy and pretty hard to mess up. Now that’s my kind of baking!
I followed this recipe, and with a few minor setbacks, I was successful. I’m not quite sure why in the wonderful world of baking I can never seem to get the exact desired results from following the directions, but it always seems that way. Either way, the only difference I had was leaving the cakes in for about 12 or so minutes until they were done rather than the 7 minutes the recipe calls for. Basically when they looked like this (pictured below), I took them out.
After taking them from the oven, I found they seemed to come out of the dishes easier if I let them sit for just a couple of minutes. Not too long being that they should be served hot, but a few minutes. After getting them on the plate I sprinkled them with powdered sugar and paired them with raspberry sauce, which in my opinion makes them 10 times as wonderful.
So if you want to impress some guests with a delicious dessert, try this one out. For only having 5 ingredients, it’s pretty easy and hard to beat. Not to mention, who doesn’t love melted chocolate in cake form??
