Photography has been a passion of mine for about as long as I can remember. Cooking on the other hand is fairly new to me in the grand scheme of things. It was only in the past few years that the world of cooking has even interested me. I think it was the mixture of my first trip to Europe and the television show Iron Chef that sparked my interest in wanting to learn how to cook. (Beyond that of Mac and Cheese that is.)
The appealing thing about cooking, to me at least, is not only making something tasty (although this is extremely important) but making something look nice. Presentation to me is half the fun. You can make some of the most basic recipes so much more interesting by presenting it in an artsy way. Some people are turned off by these chefs who make their food look like a piece of art, but I find it fascinating. I just want to know how they do it!
I have endless recipes that I have collected over the years that I have been dying to try but for one reason or the other I haven’t. Some of them have ingredients I have never heard of, others require tools I can’t quite pronounce…but no more excuses. It’s time to try new things and see what happens…and of course, taking pictures as I go along.
